[ BREAKING NEWS ] :: Conrad Murray completes jail time for killing Michael Jackson ( READ )

According to CNN , Dr. Conrad Murray left the Los Angeles County jail under sheriff's escort, avoiding reporters and Michael Jackson fans waiting for his release early Monday.
Murray, who served two years of a four-year sentence for causing Michael Jackson's death, was driven away in a sheriff's car for the "safety and security" of the jail, sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
The handful of Jackson fans gathered outside the jail accused the Los Angeles County sheriff of showing favoritism to Murray by slipping him out of the jail through a back exit, instead of the door where freed prisoners normally leave.

Murray, who the sheriff's spokesman described as an exemplary inmate, was kept away from the general inmate population during his two years in the jail. He was also allowed to have liberal use of a telephone inside his cell during his last year.
Murray's lawyer told reporters outside the jail that he would try to get his medical licenses reinstated in California, Texas and Nevada so he can resume the medical career interrupted by his conviction on the involuntary manslaughter in 2011.
A jury concluded after a two-month trial that Murray's negligence led to Jackson's death from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol.

[ TRAGEDY ] :: Nollywood Actor Dies After Brief Illness (READ )

We have a report that an actor in the Nigerian motion picture industry called Nollywood has died. The actor, Ray Daniels Okeugo died on Friday, October 25, 2013, after a brief illness.

The nature of the sickness that took away the actor was not made known to us as at press time.

Okeugo used to act in many soap operas and home videos before taking into photography. His burial arrangement is being planned by Lagos state chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) led by Victor Osuagu.

[ TRAGEDY ] :: Ex-Vice President, Mike Akhigbe, Is Dead ( READ)

Nigeria's former Chief of General Staff, Vice Admiral Mike Akhigbe, is dead. He was 68. Akhigbe, whose position in the Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC), headed by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, made him the military vice-president in the government that return Nigeria to democracy in 1999, died at the weekend in England.

It was gathered that Akhigbe had been battling with cancer for some time before his appointment as the chief of general staff, following the death of the then Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, in 1998.

After his retirement from the Force, Akhigbe went to read law and became an attorney with specialisation in Maritime and Real Estate Law. He was a seasoned businessman with substantial interests in real estate.

Akhigbe attended the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Royal Naval School of Maritime Operations Dryad, Southwick the United Kingdom, Command and Staff College Jaji, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru and University of Poitiers, Rouan, France.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

Since Funke Akindele’s marriage to politician/businessman Alhaji Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof ended and even though their separation caused her a lot of pain, Funke has gotten her groove back.

Having survived the pain and hurt, Funke Akindele shared a photo of herself looking all prettied up and sexy on Instagram to celebrate her strength with the caption “Thank you Lord, dead bones shall rise again, God is able”

[ BREAKING NEWS ] :: Two Planes Collide at Lagos International Airport Ikeja ( READ )

We have heard of car collision, trailer collision and sometimes ship collision. But what is weird is when you hear of two planes colliding. this is what happened yesterday on Friday 25th October 2013 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, when a Turkish plane collided with a Max Air plane transporting pilgrims coming from Saudi Arabia.

The incidence occurred when a Turkish aircraft that has successfully landed was trying to park and it wings collided with that of max Air which just transported pilgrims from Saudi Arabia.

Leadership News reports:

The incident caused minor damages to both planes which were immediately taken away for repairs.

Spokesman of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr. Fan Ndubuoke, confirmed the incident. He described damages to the aircraft as minor.

[ #HEARTLESS ] : NEW BORN BABY ABANDONED AT WASTE DUMP IN OGUN STATE ( READ )

According to a report by Punch, a new born baby was found on Friday morning at a refuse dump at Ikugbonmilere Street, Mowe, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State. The woman suspected to be the baby’s mother denied the allegation, saying she gave birth to a Tortoise, and not a human.

An eyewitness revealed that people who went to the suspected mother’s residence for further investigation saw traces of blood.

The woman has however, been taken to a nearby police station for further questioning, while the baby was taken to the palace of the traditional ruler in the town.

Before passing away, George won over the attention of the globe, Guinness Book of World Records and Oprah. He lived a big life for a big dog.

Dave and Christie Nasser didn’t mind adopting the runt of the litter. They fell in love with the Great Dane as soon as they saw him. They just didn’t realize that he would grow up to break world records, their furniture and, eventually, our hearts.

When George passed away in his home in Tucson, Arizona, he was one might shy of being 8 years-old.

It’s hard to believe, but when George was born he was the runt of his litter. Needless to say, he hit a pretty crazy growth spurt.As an adult, George weighed 245lbs

In 2010, he was recognized by Guinness World Records as not only the World’s Tallest Dog, but also the Tallest Dog Ever George consumed more than 180lbs of food a month and he slept in his own, queen-sized bed.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce Giant George died last night. George passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones; one month before his eighth birthday.”

TWO AMERICAN SAILORS KIDNAPPED BY PIRATES OFF THE NIGERIAN COAST ( READ )

Pirates have stormed an oil supply vessel off southern Nigeria and kidnapped the ship’s captain and chief engineer, both US citizens, a private security firm and US officials said Thursday.

A US-flagged C-Retriever owned by American oil servicing company Edison Chouest Offshore was attacked on Wednesday off the city of Brass, said AKE, a London-headquartered private security firm.

“Both the chief engineer and the captain were kidnapped,” Richard Fylon of AKE said. “They are both American.”

US defence officials in Washington, who requested anonymity, confirmed the details.

The US Navy and the Marine Corps had not yet received orders to intervene, two US defense officials told AFP.

In the 1980s, Amego was very popular in the entertainment scene in Nigeria. He was a popular musician and host of the popular weekly music-dance show, Sunday Rendezvous. Amego was also commonly referred to by the moniker, Funky Mallam because of his trademark jerry curled pony tail hair-do. It was indeed refreshing at the time to see a young dude from the North looking so trendy.

Amego who has been based in the US for many years is currently been treated at the Intensive Care at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, US.

Nigerian international, Obafemi Martins has welcomed a baby boy from his girlfriend, Abigail Barwuah, who happens to be the elder sister of former Manchester City's striker, Mario Balotelli.

This is reportedly the third child the former Newcastle United FC of England striker will be having from three different babymamas.

The Lagos-born footballer reportedly had a child from a woman while first plying his soccer trade in Italy before getting the second baby while playing in England and now with Abigail.

Abigail reportedly gave birth to Martins' child last week Wednesday in Italy. She had reportedly lost a pregnancy she had for Obagoal, as Martins was then fondly called when he was a threat to defenders and goalkeepers, in December 2012, when she came to Lagos with Martins, which was then widely reported in the media.

This is no cheering news for Nollywood practitioners as President of the Script Writers Guild, Mr. Chike Bryan is currently down with kidney related ailment and needs urgent support to stay alive.

HVP learnt that the soft -spoken guild head was initially admitted at Isolo General Hospital before he was later referred to Igando General Hospital, Lagos, where better machines for dialysis are available.

A source who confirmed this development to HVP said, Bryan’s two kidneys are currently in bad shape and only the grace of God will save this energetic Nollywood practitioner who has written so many blockbuster movies.

However, while nothing is being done by his colleagues to save him from dying, kudos must be given to Franca Brown who, according to our source, have taken it as a personal project to be attending to the ailing Bryan.
